Just popping in here to say I feel a lot of kinship on the topic of living in the generations after Mao’s shadow. It has impacts so many of us so deeply. Keep fighting the good fight.

Mothers sacrifice so much for their children. We spend those earlier years responding to their needs, and ignoring ours - not sleeping because our kids wake in middle of night or at the ass crack of dawn, eating when they are hungry and often their half chewed leftovers… it’s no wonder that once things stabilize a little, we feel haggard and like a shell of the human we once were. You, and all the other moms out there, deserve some self care time.

I’ve mentioned it in passing - had eclampsia with both deliveries and my nephrologist said there’s about 2-3% damage to my kidneys each time. Took a year for my proteinuria to resolve each time. Maybe we’ll do an episode on how kids permanently damaged our bodies lol 😂
